Chp 1 Measurement and Geometry

- perform required conversions between the imperial system and the metric system.

- solve real-world problems involving the areas of rectangles, triangles, and circles, and of related composite shapes.

- solve problems involving measurement and geometry and arising from real-world applications.

- explain the significance of optimal dimensions in real-world applications, and determine optimal dimensions of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional figures.

Chp 2 Trigonometry

- solve problems using primary trigonometric ratios of acute and obtuse angles, the sine law, and the cosine law, including problems arising from real-world applications.

- determine the values of the sine, cosine, and tangent of obtuse angles.

Chp 3 Two-Variable Statistics

- describe characteristics of an effective survey

- create a graphical summary of two-variable data using a scatter plot, with and without technology.

- describe possible interpretations of the line of best fit of a scatter plot and reasons for misinterpretations.

- determine whether a linear model is appropriate given a set of two-variable data, by assessing the correlation between the two variables.

Chp 4 Apply Data Management

- interpret statistics presented in the media, and explain how the media, the advertising industry, and others use and misuse statistics to promote a certain point of view.

- Calculate percent change, percentile rank, and weighted means given a set of data.

Chp 5 Graphical Models

- Interpret graphs to describe a relationship

- Describe trends based on given graphs, and use the trends to make predictions or justify decisions

- Make connections between the formulas, graphs, and tables of values of linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.

- He did well in the graphical models unit where he was able to make connections between the formulas, graphs, and tables of values of linear, quadratic, and exponential functions on his assignment and test.

Chp 6 Algebraic Models

- use exponent laws to simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions

- Solve exponential equations in one variable by determining a common base.

Chp 7 Annuities and Mortgages

- Solve problems, using technology that involve the amount, present value, and regular payment of an ordinary simple annuity

- Determine the effects of varying/regular payment periods and interest rates on the length of time needed to pay off a mortgage.

Chp 8 Budgeting

- Solve problems, that involve the fixed and variable costs of owning or renting accommodation.

- Design a monthly budget suitable for an individual or family and make adjustments to a budget to accommodate changes in circumstances.

- solve problems that involve fixed and variable costs of owning or renting accommodations as well as design a monthly budget.
